SlugGo did win a $250 prize in the Cotsen Open. Hierarchical Systems
Research Foundation, the source of support for the SlugGo project at
UCSC, decided to donate the money to the Intelligent Go Foundation.

For what it is worth, I think this is all quite complicated enough without
large sums of money.
