I hope they will forgive me if I say that despite their efforts, the
increase in strength is not proportionate to the computing power
applied.
Forgiveness is not necessary. SlugGo uses a great deal of computer
power somewhat inefficiently (in a way designed to minimize clock time
rather than to maximize cpu utilization) for a small increase in
playing strength. We are still working to determine exactly what part
of our algorithm is responsible for that increase, and exactly what the
increase really is.
