This is a reminder about the Computer Go event in Prague on August 27th.
I meant _JULY_ 27th.
This event is part of the two-week 49th European Go Congress, see http://www.goweb.cz/egc2005/. It is a one-day event, see
http://www.goweb.cz/egc2005/tournaments.asp?lang=en#comp. There will be three (unspecified) cash prizes for the three highest-placed programs. So far as I can tell entry is free.
It is a five-round Swiss, taking a whole day, which is a sight-seeing/rest day from the main tournament. The time limits are one hour each sudden death. The organisers are providing PCs of a somewhat limited spec, "Pentium III/550 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 4 GB HD, OS Win 2000"; you may run your program on one of these, or if you prefer you may bring your own computer.
Programs are encouraged to communicate with each other using GMP (Go Modem Protocol). Where this is not supported by both the programs, moves will be copied, by the operators of the programs, via a physical board using a physical clock.
I will be directing this tournament. I will appreciate it if entrants inform me in advance.
