RE: [computer-go] I know we disagree, but I choose to do nothingaboutit.
In a professional human tournament (not a teaching game), when players
disagree on dead stones after both players have passed, what happens? I
was under the impression that the series is *not* simply played out until
they reach a point of agreement, but rather that the position is reviewed
by an impartial judge.
If this is the case in human games (that disagreements require human
intervention to decide), why is this such a bad thing in computer play?
If I'm mistaken and this is not the case, what is, in fact, the protocol
used in human tournaments to resolve such scenarios? (I can't imagine that
the protocol used is to continue playing until all stones are either
considered living or are removed from the board.)
Thanks,
Ross Werner
