Re: computer-go: EGC Computer Tournament
Hi Everyone,
As an open query to the full list are there a set of minimum
requirements for programs to be allowed to enter such tournaments.
As opposed to the game-playing enging itself I'm more interested in
whether the program has to be able to implement the Go Modem Protocol etc.
There are a number of things on top of purely playing go that I'd like
to implement but I'm not sure what should take priority - or in some cases
how to even go about implementation itself :-)
Such things are counting methodologies, Japanese, Chinese...
Handicapped play, sgf export/import, stepping backwards/forwards through a
game, allowing for commenting using the sgf format etc... If I go through
any more I might as well send out my future development list :-)
All of these things I'll implement at some point but I'd just like to
take a quick poll as to what's necessary vs. what's just 'nice to have'...
The implementation of the 'Go Modem Protocol' also harks back to
Richard Lorentz's query earlier.
Regards,
Mike...
