One paper in the area of combinatorial game theory which
was written under the influence of Berlekamp and which treats
the problem of getting eyes is Howard Landman's paper
``Eyespace Values in Go.'' And the papers of Martin Mueller
also have somewhat the same flavor. The basic paradigm is
that a global game is the sum of local games, and the
problem is how to do the summation. These are all papers
