Gunnar released the first draft of GTP v2 in July 2002. The second draft
from October 2002 contains a few clarifications, nothing else,
definitely nothing that would not be backward compatible. Since then
there has been no change at all. So the year without changes has passed
a while ago.

If your memory is right this must have been before his drafts for GTP
v2.
