Very popular in Austria too. The only tax people like to pay. In Austria it
is called 6 out of 45. You choose 6 numbers between 1 and 45. If all 6 are
drawn, you are the big winner. The chance is about 1:8Million. As Austria
has 1 Million inhabitants and on average 1 tip per person is given, there is
on the average 1 winner per round/week.
I assume the US system is due to demographic reasons something like 6 out of
50.
If we are already off topic. There was in Austria a US-election-lottery.
Wanted to put 1.500 Euro (1.800 $) on Bush to have at least some
compensation for " Four another years". But unfortunately the upper limit
for the lottery was 125 Euro. The quote was 1.65. Did not really pay.
