Not True anymore, I work as a C/C++ Programmer and my wife writes Cobol/ASM
programs and I can tell you that this is not true. J2EE programmers
(not J2SE) are very much in demand.

C/C++ & as far as I am concerned are something for:
Telecommunication (my field) (Brew as well)
Games
Trading
Hobbyst

Which if you look at the job market all these fields are declining
rapidly and some are even shipped overseas... I am not familiar with
Europe...
