Well, that depends on what you mean by user-friendly. For folks who
have mail/news readers that they're used to and like, a switch to a
web-based forum is a big step backwards. Personally, I read mail and
news in the same program and the thought of having to slog through a
web interface is horrible. So my vote would be to please leave this as
a mailing list rather than switching to a pure web forum.

P.S. Gmane does seem to be down at the moment but that's pretty
rare--I read several groups via them on a regular basis and this is
the first time I've had a problem connecting. Anyway they're on
it--from www.gmane.org:

  news.gmane.org down

  Due to a problem with largefile support in inn, the Gmane news server
  is down. It should hopefully come back up within a few hours.
