I Hope I can. I will.
David is a very clever man who worked on his program for approx
20 years. (not constantly, I know ...)
He has thought an written extensively about it,
and from what I recall from it, he has considered
every possibility for improvement.
If you read the discussions about alpha/beta+evaluationfunction
(beeing the wrong way) , you can know (IMHO) why David made
the choices he made.
BTW: the A/B+eval discussion has been here forevere,
and is re-ignited every time new (chess-?) programmers
enter the scene, so it seems.
WRT snipping: no offence. There is a tendency lately for
topposting & !snipping. My count for Matt's reply: 356 lines
(164 surplus HTML + 190 flat ascii lines, approx)
13 of these were new lines, the rest "quotations" (some of them
had >>>> (that's four) infront.) I rest my case.
