Re: [computer-go] Re: Computer Go tournament thoughts
Personally, I would prefer that we design our own stuff that works
very naturally with GTP (requiring no extra work for GTP programs to
use) and meets our needs in a natural way, but there is this minor
little issue of programming and getting someone who will do the work
in a timely matter. It first blush it seems like a simple project if
you try to keep it minimal, but I have an idea there is actually a
significant amount of work involved.
Just one idea, Gunnar must have a little piece of primitive code for
running his random go challenge which could be something to look at as
a starting point. It doesn't do that much but it does manage a
connection, which is probably the easy part.
But we should first look into using server software that already
exists, even though we may have somewhat different needs that might
not be directly addressed by such software. Or perhaps it could be?
I don't know. It seems pragmatic to look into this first.

I like this idea too, and I have a game server (boardspace.net)
which could donate the space/bandwidth required.
I it seems to me that the natural interface would be
to run a copy of NNGS or something similar, if only
because that would immediately answer all questions
about the details of how you would interface to it,
inspect your games and so on.
