[computer-go] Re: match protocol for Computer Go Server
Of course now the problem is how to attach a program to the server.
I haven't researched this yet, so I don't know the protocol, etc.
But so far I haven't even been able to log onto Dave Dyer's server.

I could never get a connection using Ergo. I use boardspace.net as
the domain as well as several variations of this. I tried port 6969 as well
as 9696 like nngs uses.
I was able to ping boardspace.net but that isn't very useful.

For the casual testing phase (which is now) the programs will no doubt
have their own means for proposing and accepting matches. It might even
be as simple as the programmer does it for the program.
For formal tournaments, some kind of tournament director program
could be writting which would issue the requests to both parties,
and presumably the request would be annotated as "an offer you can't
refuse". The protocol might work along these lines.
1) Program signs on, and is told (or knows) "GameMaster" is your TD
2) Chat messages from "GameMaster" would direct the program A
to accept challenges from program B, and direct program B
to challenge program A
