[computer-go] Computer Go Tournament on KGS
I hereby announce the first KGS Open Computer Go Tournament, and invite
you to enter your programs for it.
There are details below, and at
http://kgs.kiseido.com/default/tournInfo.jsp?id=75
This will test three things - KGS's automatic tournament system, my
ability to run it, and your bots' ability to play in it. As it is a
test event, it uses small boards and fast time limits.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date and time:
Sunday March 6th, starting at 20:00 GMT
(= 15:00 Eastern Time, 12:00 Pacific Time, 05:00 in Japan).
Format:
Four-round Swiss.
Rules:
9x9 board. Chinese rules, 7.5 komi. Ten minutes each, sudden death.
Entrants:
Authors should enter their own programs – copies of public-domain
programs such as GnuGo may apply, but will only be entered if there is a
shortage of other entries.
Venue:
The "Computer Go" room on KGS. This room is listed, for historical
reasons, under "Social".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you have to do, in order to enter:
1.)
Link some GTP code into your program (you may have done this already).
This will allow it to talk to the KGS bot-client, kgsGtp. There is some
advice on this, and links to more advice, at
http://www.intelligentgo.org/en/computer-go/servers/kgs.html
2.)
Download and install kgsGtp.
*** N.B. *** You MUST use the 2.6.10-beta2 or later version of kgsGtp
for this tournament. You can download it from
http://www.igoweb.org/~wms/upload/.
3.)
Inform me <nick@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, preferably with the words "KGS
tournament registration" in the message title, stating the name which
your program/bot will have on KGS. If it is a GnuGo clone and not your
own work, you may submit it, but it may not get to play if there are
many other entrants.
If you don't enter, you can still connect to KGS and watch.
