this only really matters if big money is involved,
in which case the relevant authors should be happy
to hike their machines to the tournament
in any case.

i like the vm option, minus having to get the
applicable OS'es on all of those vm's.

the reality is that if someone isn't willing to
share either their source code or their object
code, or isn't sitting in front of you while
their machine plays behind a firewall, it isn't
really clear that a computer program is making
the move decisions.

people used to play and enjoy postal chess,
