  thanks for all your hard work on this; I wasn't participating
yesterday but enjoyed most of the action.

Your suggestions on the linked web page seem good but I'd argue with one
of them: if bots HAVE to kill off every enemy stone it will cost them
time to do it.  As author of one of the few programs that tried to
maximise it's use of time carefully (shame about the quality of moves!)
I wouldn't be keen on this approach.

You shouldn't have to spend your time sorting out badly behaving bots in
a tournament - if they aren't fully tested and don't perform the basics
of time management and game finishing, disqualify them.  This may have
been a bit extreme on the Test or First tournaments, but with a healthy
number of contenders and a reasonable time to prepare and test, sounds
OK to me from now on.
