Gnu Go may not qualify as one of the top programs, and the time frame is far
too short, but here is a graph for the past 12 months:

   http://nngs.cosmic.org/cgi-bin/ngraph.cgi?n=gnugo

I have recently measured gnugo 2.6 (feb-2000) agaisnt the latest 2.7.233
(Apr 29, 2001), and found the difference to be between 4 and 5 stones (4
stones: 2.6 won 55% of the games; 5 stones: it won 45% - averages of 100
games series).

Maybe the computer go ladder ( http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/go/ladder.html )
could shed more light on the development of the strong programs...

If you find out something interesting, could you summarize on this list?
