Re: [computer-go] future KGS Computer Go Tournaments - two sections?

I still think this is a good idea ;-) but would like to suggest a
further refinement which might be a step too far:

In the 'serious/original/trusted origin' division, what I'd find very
useful would be the option of entering with a handicap or on 'scratch'.
Obviously, the actual tournament winner would be the best performing
'scratch' program to prevent ill-founded commercial boasting, but it
would make for better matches and allow programs to measure their
strength against the big boys (or girls!).

That way, MFOG could be given a 10 stones head start and compete on even
terms with the next generation Dumbbot when I finish it ;-)

Would that be possible?
I don't think it would be possible. The KGS tournament system does not support handicaps.

As for "formal" and "casual" divisions - I have had two votes for (David Fotland and John Davies), and one against (delivered privately). Any more votes?
